Growing Months
02:35

You do up your zipper
I'll pick out a dress
Suitable for dinner
Though no one could care less
Darren's up for two days
He brought his wife and her kids
She talks about his fish boats
And Rowen's mental health
Try to be nice to him
He's got that painting thing
It means so much to him
So much I shutter to think
Of what might happen
Should it all go south
He's so passionate
He'd see no way out
Could you get ready quicker?
I can't help but stress
Been stuck inside all winter
Now dealing with Lucas
He drinks 'til he can't see straight
He blames us for his mess
And Nan pretends not to care
But she can't help herself
There's no consoling her
She gets a temperature
She goes to bed from dinner
She worries herself sick
With what might have been
Had pop stayed at home
And been with the kids
In their growing months

Hivemind
02:41

A hivemind talking
To herself
Her upper body
Unreachably high
She's got a conscience
And so do I
But esoteric
Thought clouds mine
These thick black tree trunks
All covered in vines
In the middle of nowhere
Hidden in plain sight
If I could climb them
Sleep in her canopy
Underneath her stars
I'd tell her all about me
In a clearing within her
I'd plant myself
With all my branches
Intertwined with hers
We'd share the soil
We'd share the air
Our roots would tangle
Our thoughts would wed
I've always been lonely
I wouldn't know how it feels
To be part of a forrest
Of like-minded trees

No one likes learning every little detail
It's something in our make up
That I've learned not to trust
So I'll make my own mind up
The hard way if I must
Well I'll assume if she said it then she meant it
I guess she can't help being like that
Can't help acting up
Wants to change and she'd try but
Trying's just so hard
And we all do the same thing
We just hide it so no one else can see
It can't just be me
From his own mouth I heard it when he told me
He said his senses are all heightened
Fuse fit to combust
Wonders where the silver line went
After all the clouds cleared up
He said for some social life is like an instinct
But maybe they're just like us
At least that's what they told me
And who am I to judge?
And if you're to be believed then surely
They all can be too
It can't just be you
We'll all drift to wherever the tied pulls
We don't care much for danger
Don't care for high ground
Just swim to where the current takes us
And wait for the flood to dry out
And you watch them as if they're nothing like you
Standing where they should be sitting
Still until their feet swell up
But are you drinking to pretend you like drinking
Or drinking to pretend you're not drunk?
It's all in the same category
It all warrants our disgust
But it can't just be us

Simon's Vignette
01:20
|
|||
Lying in the park down the road
A lollipop covered in a callous shell
For you to stare at
Wonder where it came from
Ask where it's going
And envy for all it's inanimate charm
"There's something in these cracks in the sand"
Something beyond all the ants, you mean?
The ones that mock you
Content with futility
A life with a purpose
Not interested in what lies beyond their own sun
But you wouldn't dare go beyond all those things
'cause it's exactly what they want you to do
And you can't have that
You are your own man
And you live for principle
Yeh, you've got a conscience that works on it's own
Palm on your jawline
Elbow on you kneecap
Sat on a park bench at midday, alone
